Details

In the early hours of New Years Day 2009, Oscar Grant, lying face down on a Bart platform in Oakland, was shot and killed by a Bart cop. In the days and weeks following, there was a huge public outcry, protests, riots even, and as the officer who pulled the trigger (not that he was alone) approaches his trial over a year later, there is still a huge amount of momentum around Grant's killing.

This is the first pamphlet from the Raider Nation Collective. It features three articles by George Ciccariello-Maher,which first appeared in CounterPunch just days after the murder; an article from the Raider Nation Collective titled "The Ambivalent Silences of the Left"; and one from Bring the Ruckus Oakland "Do the Right Thing: New Start for Abolitionism in Oakland."

Another critical period for Oakland. We should all be finding out and doing as much as we can. Here's a place to start.
