The phrase "Catching Out" describes the act of hopping a freight train. In three interwoven stories, Catching Out follows three contemporary hobos—a seasoned eco-activist named Lee, a young nomad named Jessica (author of the classic Transient Ways available via AK), and a tramp couple known as Switch and Baby Girl—as they navigate between the constraints of society and the freedom of the rails. The film explores Lee's intimate connection with nature and Jessica's bohemian upbringing. Meanwhile, Switch and Baby Girl confront society as they retire from the rails to raise their son Isaiah.
"Accompanied by an impressive original score by singer/songwriter Pete Droge, George's film soars with a dizzying visual beauty so eloquently realized that her film finally emerges almost like a transcendental experience; a completely absorbing meditation on the quest for true liberty." —Palm Springs International Film Festival
