ITEM OVERVIEW
A collection of 50 influential historical and contemporary articles with contextual introductions by the editors. The selections document the evolution of transgender studies in the English speaking world. By bringing together the voices and experiences of transgender individuals, doctors, psychologists, and theorists, this volume seeks to highlight important early works in scientific sexology and transsexualism, and feminist and queer theory, as well as key texts that explicitly engage the politics of gender identity. Contributors include Judith Butler, Patrick Califia, Leslie Feinberg, Judith Halberstam, Kate Bornstein, Nikki Sullivan, Richard von Kraft-Ebing and Dean Spade.
