ITEM OVERVIEW
Two activist videos. Retooling Dissent (22 minutes) features the projects and collaborations of four collectives disseminating their ideas in and around the site of the World Economic Forum Protests in NYC on 02/02/02. That weekend, New York became a veritable police state, with 4,000 plus police lining the streets. Meanwhile, artists and activists from around the world created new tools and sent the message: September 11 will not gag the critiques of globalization—we will fight the corporate takeover of public space and expression. Featured are projects by the Institute For Applied Autonomy, Las Agncias/New Kids On The Black Block, Bikewriters and Street.Rec. In Surveillance Report (6 minutes), anti-surveillance activist Bill Brown details the ways in which public surveillance systems in NYC violate every aspect that the 4th Amendment of the American Constitution supposedly exists to protect.
